The First Taco Bell To Serve Booze Opened Today

If you've often thought to yourself, "I could really use a drink with this Doritos Locos Taco," Taco Bell hears you loud and clear. In fact, the first-ever Taco Bell location to serve alcohol had a soft opening today. The outpost, located in Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood, will officially open its doors on September 22. However, it briefly served booze to customers today. The new concept, dubbed "Taco Bell Cantina" — a slightly nicer version of your typical Taco Bell — urges patrons to eat in, thanks to a new menu offering alcoholic libations. In addition to wine and beer, USA Today reports that Taco Bell is capitalizing on adult fans of frozen beverages, with its Mountain Dew Baja Blast, Cantina Punch, and Cantina Margarita freezes. All can be served with Captain Morgan white rum, Ketel One vodka, or Don Julio tequila mixed in. Overall, the drinks are pretty decently priced, with the freezes weighing in at around $6 to $7, and wine and beer offered for $4. Taco Bell will open its second Cantina locale, in San Francisco, but only time will tell if customers will respond positively to its boozy offerings. If we're being totally honest, if given a choice we'd prefer delivery over alcohol.
