Following 285 cases of salmonella poisoning — including 53 hospitalizations and one death — Andrew & Williamson Fresh Produce is voluntarily recalling all cucumbers that its Limited Edition brand sold from August 1 to September 3. This recall applies to all stores and restaurants that purchase from Andrew & Williamson in the 27 states (Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Minnesota, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, and Utah) where a salmonella outbreak has been reported. Click here for a full list of all the vendors who use Andrew & Williamson Fresh Produce as a supplier— however not all these business were affected by this particular recall. If you think you've ended up with some of these cucumbers, you can return them to your grocery store for a full refund. Regardless of whether you get reimbursed, get them out of your fridge. Death by salmonella is rare, though consuming foods contaminated with it certainly leads to unpleasant symptoms, to say the least. You may feel nauseous, feverish, and even experience vomiting or diarrhea. Be sure to stay hydrated, well-rested, and if you still feel sick after a week, or if your symptoms worsen, get in touch with your doctor ASAP. Correction: An earlier version of this article stated that Olive Garden and Whole Foods were affected by the cucumber recall. While Andrew & Williamson Fresh Produce distributes produce to these businesses, both Olive Garden and Whole Foods have stated that they did not stock the recalled cucumbers.
