Is Jessa Duggar Seewald Taking A Stand Against Her Brother?

The Duggar family has (mostly) presented a united front as the indiscretions of its eldest son, Josh, have unfurled in the spotlight over the last several months. But, was the Ashley Madison scandal the straw that finally broke the camel's back? It seems that at least one member of the fold may think so.

On September 1, Jessa Duggar Seewald shared a Twitter post pointing to the blog of Michael and Guinn Seewald, the parents of her husband, Ben. "Go to http://seewalds.com and read the post on the Ashley Madison scandal," she wrote, with no additional commentary.

The blog entry finds Michael Seewald ruminating on the recent discovery that Josh Duggar was an active member of the Ashley Madison community.

"It distresses me to say that Josh Duggar’s greatest sin is a byproduct of the sum total of his secretly sinful lifestyle. That is, that by his hypocrisy, he blasphemed the name of God. He claimed to be a Christian, but by his deeds he has suggested otherwise. With the name of God on his lips, he lived a covert and extensive lifestyle of evil," Seewald writes.

"While proudly saying things like, 'Our family is like the epitome of conservative values', he was looking at porn and soliciting affairs. He took a job at the Family Research Council that exists to promote the traditional family, all the while undermining his own family by violating his marriage covenant," Seewald continues. "He flourished in the fame of his family and the success of their television show, all the while betraying their trust and Christian values."

"The thing that is so hurtful is that he was a loud voice endorsing Christian ethics and he has been shown to be a fraud... Sadly, he had deceived us all," Seewald shares. "To the person reading this, I want to caution you. Josh was a pretender."

The blog post also cautions against using Josh's actions to justify one's own un-Christian choices. "When you are found guilty, you will not get to say, 'But what about Josh? I’m better than he is.' God’s wrath will burn against you because of your own sins."

Needless to say, it's a pretty admonishing read all around. And, while Jessa isn't issuing an explicit endorsement of the post, the fact that she is sharing it at all seems to indicate her tacit agreement.

If that's the case, we have to say that it's about time. Finally, at least one member of the Duggar family has stopped beating around the bush.
