The Demi Lovato & Kathy Griffin Shade War Wages On

The Demi Lovato and Kathy Griffin grudge war goes way back — honestly, though, we thought they would have settled things by now. Apparently not. After the former Disney teen queen sang at Sunday night's VMAs, Griffin sent the following tweet out into the universe.

Demi don't play that, though — she fired back pretty quick with this hilarious, on-point image.

Yikes. Kathy couldn't let the "Neon Lights" singer have the last word, so she lobbed back another snarky missive.

It seems like Lovato may have decided to take the high road and let this one go. But it's still worth trying to figure out where all this bad blood came from in the first place. It seems to date back to March 2014, when a fan on Twitter asked Griffin to name the biggest celebrity douche she'd ever met. "Probably Debbie Lovato Plus she should calm the f down bout Lady Gaga gettin barfed on," the comedian wrote. (Yep. Debbie.) A little bit of background: Gaga did get vomited on, as part of a SXSW performance. It was gross and confusing, but not unprecedented. Lovato called out Gaga on the incident in the following tweet:

Gaga responded to Lovato's criticisms via E! News, saying, "I have struggled with an eating disorder for over 10 years and I take that very seriously, I take the struggle of others very seriously." "I am very supportive of Demi's struggle and her recovery as well as the recovery of anyone who is suffering from that," she went on. "But this performance had absolutely nothing to do with any eating disorder, and we never intended for it to be taken that way." Why Griffin decided to hop into the fray is anyone's guess. But apparently she's not done stirring the pot, and the "Cool for the Summer" singer is in no mood for this nonsense.
