Kylie Jenner Ignores Drought, Cited For Wasting Water

Oh, Kylie. The youngest member of the Kardashian/Jenner clan may have been just too wrapped up in her much-chronicled 18th birthday celebrations — including an over-the-top present from beau, Tyga, one highy lucrative party appearance, and a Mexican getaway — to pay much attention to the drought that is plaguing her home state of California. According to documentation obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, Jenner was cited for violating water regulations at her Calabasas home. Residents of the affluent Los Angeles community, where water is primarily used outdoors to maintain the area's notoriously sprawling green lawns, are currently allowed a 15-minute window of outdoor water use two days per week. (An interesting comparison: The average daily gallon usage per-person in the more urban city of Santa Monica, where large lawns are much less common, is less than half that of Calabasas and its surrounding areas.) California is entering the fourth year of a record-breaking drought, CBS News reports. A drought State of Emergency was declared in January 2015. Governor Jerry Brown instituted strict conservation measures statewide. Jenner, who lives in a 5,000-square-foot home in Calabasas’ Oaks community, was not by any means the only homeowner to be cited for excessive water usage after the Las Virgenes Municipal Water District instituted 24/7 water patrol inspections of the area, which includes Calabasas, Hidden Hills, Agoura Hills, and Westlake Village, earlier this summer. Within just one month of patrolling the territory, which is home to approximately 65,000 people, the LVMWD issued 203 water violations. And just who might those other 200+ violators be? Well, one of them in none other than the aforementioned Tyga, who rents a 12,000-square-foot villa just a few blocks away. Looks like the two young lovers have more in common than just a love of raunchy rap songs.
