Is It Weird That Taylor Swift Might Present Kanye With A Major Award?

It's been nearly six years since Kanye West ruined Taylor Swift's Best Female Video award acceptance speech — and whatever bad blood might exist between the two superstars may as well be water under the bridge by now. That said: Rumor has it that the "Style" singer might be the one to hand off Yeezus's well-earned Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the 2015 ceremony. But is Swift really the appropriate person to honor West? It certainly would make good television — and give the pair an opportunity to very publicly show that they support one another. Given their history, though, it seems as though the VMA producers are just trying to churn up old drama. Are they aiming for a "Imma let you finish moment"? Only time will tell. According to Swift's recent interview with Vanity Fair, the princess of pop and the "FourFiveSeconds" singer have only recently truly gotten over their rift. “I feel like I wasn’t ready to be friends with him until I felt like he had some sort of respect for me, and he wasn’t ready to be friends with me until he had some sort of respect for me — so it was the same issue, and we both reached the same place at the same time,” she told the mag. Swift added that their friendship initially blossomed because of their mutual connection to another iconic artist. “I became friends with Jay Z, and I think it was important, for Jay Z, for Kanye and I to get along." “It started with both of us really liking Jay and wanting him to be happy. And then Kanye and I both reached a place where he would say really nice things about my music and what I’ve accomplished, and I could ask him how his kid’s doing.” Glad to see these two are getting along. Although we're still not sold on Swift as being the right person to hand him this landmark award. Is it going to detract from the honor itself? While we're sure she would be a pro about it, it seems like an awkward thing to ask of them both.
