The Scary Reason Your Favorite Bread Is Being Recalled

I am not sure why I am hearing about this right now, but on August 26 bread from some of our favorite brands was recalled due to — wait for it — tiny pieces of broken glass. Yikes! Companies like Sara Lee, Kroger, Bimbo, Nature’s Harvest, Great Value, and L’Oven Fresh are among those impacted. According to PR Newswire, Bimbo Bakeries USA (weird name to anyone else?) issued a voluntary recall after customers saw small pieces of broken glass on the outside of the bread. Customers in 11 states — Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia — are affected. Thankfully, no one has been reported injured. The broken glass is said to be the result of a broken light bulb at one of the bakeries. Click here to see the full info on which products were recalled. Okay, so I know this is totally weird, but all I can think about now is one of my favorite childhood songs, Annie Lennox’s Walking on Broken Glass. (Check out the John Malkovich cameo!)
