Melissa McCarthy To Internet Haters: You're So Not Worth It

Melissa McCarthy is an incredibly busy woman. She has four film projects scheduled to drop in 2016, including the Ghostbusters reboot. Her fashion line, Melissa McCarthy Seven7, will be released next month. She also still makes time for acts of kindness like visiting a children's hospital with her Ghostbusters castmates. Such a packed scheduled really doesn't leave any time to dwell on her critics.
When asked about the idiotic haters, she recently explained to Refinery29, "I don’t read any of it. Between getting to do this dreamy job of Ghostbusters — with three other women that I already know and am absolutely crazy about — and then I get to go home to my great husband and two kids. To take time out of those two great things to take in a bunch of negativity — I just don’t do it. And it doesn’t improve me in any way. There’s nothing I can improve about myself from someone who wants someone else to be unhappy. People that do that, I hope they find a little more happiness. But I don’t read any of it. I don’t read anything like that. I’ve never been on a chat room in my life."

McCarthy hasn't been able to escape the many cutting remarks thrown her way, and last summer at the Toronto Film Festival she even told off a critic who made nasty comments about her appearance and her relationship with her husband.

McCarthy's position on her critics is admirable and should help her going forward with Ghostbusters, a film that has received a large amount of hate due to its all-female cast. Such criticism reached an inexplicable fever pitch recently with the visit to the children's hospital. Those kinds of trolls don't deserve McCarthy's attention, and they obviously aren't going to get it. (Additional reporting by Connie Wang)
