David Beckham Tells Off Parenting Critics Over Harper’s Pacifier Use

Word to the wise: Don't get on your high horse when it comes to David Beckham's parenting skills. The soccer star and father of four took to Instagram to defend himself against accusations of poor parenting, after paparazzi photos surfaced showing four-year-old daughter Harper using a pacifier. The images prompted criticism from other parents who worried the pacifier could cause the tyke to damage her teeth or affect her speech. As Jezebel notes, Papa Becks wasn't having it. He shared a screenshot of a Daily Mail article on the topic, then issued his own statement: bore off. "Why do people feel they have the right to criticize a parent about their own children without having any facts??" he wrote. "Everybody who has children knows that when they aren't feeling well or have a fever you do what comforts them best and most of the time it's a pacifier so those who criticize think twice about what you say about other people's children because actually you have no right to criticize me as a parent."
Exactly. Most of the image's comments were in support of Beckham, though a few spoilsports couldn't resist chiming in. "I don't see criticism here," one judgmental follower wrote. "Harper is too old for it and look ridiculous with it. Nothing cute. Perhaps if you spent quality time with your daughter she would stop being reliant on it. The reasons given don't justify the reasons for Harper needing to use it." Ugh. Harper not cute? David not spending quality time with his daughter? Get a life, people. Harper's not the only one who could use a pacifier. OPENER IMAGE: Startraks Photo/Rex/REX USA.
