First Look At Leona Lewis' New Music Video For "Thunder"

Our new favorite empowerment anthem of the summer, "Thunder," by Leona Lewis, officially has a music video. And if you thought the lyrics to "Thunder" got you amped ("But I won't wait any longer/When you left me down I got stronger"), just wait until you see the video.

While the music video for "Thunder" — which is the latest single off Lewis's upcoming album I Am (to be released September 11) — hasn't officially dropped yet, we've got an exclusive first look at the behind-the-scenes footage. (Hey, us empowered gals have to look out for each other, don't we?)

In the clip, Lewis — looking absolutely fierce in a variety of outfits and settings —not only talks about the advantages of working with a female director ("I feel like she gets great emotion… she really delves into the meaning behind the song"), but also explains the metaphors and imagery used for the video.

While she says that "some of [the video] is introspective," Lewis really delves into a particular scene in "Thunder," in which she falls backwards from a ledge, but lands on her feet. As the singer explains, "That's about going through things, highs and lows, falling, but always getting back up."
