It's the dawn of a new era. Or, rather, a new E!-ra. According to Variety, it was announced on Thursday that TV host and pop culture mainstay Maria Menounos will be the new E! News anchor. The post was previously filled (for 10 years) by Giuliana Rancic, whose last show is slated for August 10. Menounos — a current E! correspondent whose other credits include Today, Extra, and Live with Kelly and Michael — will be joined by three new correspondents to the E! team, including Zuri Hall, Erin Lim, and Sibley Scoles. John Najarian, the E! executive vice president of news and digital, said in a statement regarding Menounos' move, "As an established entertainment and news journalist with strong Hollywood connections, Maria has proven herself to be a great fit with the E! News team." As of now, both Menounos and Rancic have stayed mum on social media regarding the announcement. While Rancic has been a popular figure on E! for a decade, her reputation became tarnished earlier this year when she made controversial and offensive remarks on Fashion Police regarding Zendaya's dreadlocks hairstyle at the 2015 Oscars. Rancic apologized for the incident, but the damage was done. Both Kelly Osbourne and Kathy Griffin stepped down from the network, and Rancic announced earlier this month she'd be exiting her spot at E! News. We're excited for Menounos to bring her bright, energetic persona to the table at E! News; let's just hope she leaves the Mani Cam in storage.
