Surprise! Two Empire Stars Got Engaged

Empire wasn't just the breakout television hit of the year. Apparently, it's also fostering love connections among its co-stars. In March, Us Weekly reported that Empire stars Grace Gealey, who plays Anika Calhoun, and Trai Byers, who plays Andre Lyon, were dating. Now, Us is reporting that the cast mates are taking their relationship to the next level. Byers reportedly asked Gealey to marry him at her 31st birthday celebration on Sunday, July 26.

Refinery29 reached out to the couple's publicist for confirmation, but she declined to comment. E! News is also reporting that Gealey and Byers are engaged. A source told E!, "She thought it would just be the two of them going to dinner, but when they got there, he had arranged a party for about 20 of her friends and family members to surprise her."

The elated Gealey posted a collage of photos from the night on Instagram with the caption, "To all who sent greetings, called, messaged and came out to celebrate yesterday, thank you. It was an incredibly unforgettable day. And looking forward to an incredibly unforgettable year. ❤️ #31HereWeCome #empirefam#arthurmurrayfam #famfam."

Byers also shared a collage from the night, which includes both a shot of the couple as well as some great Empire-branded swag.

It looks like 31 is going to be a great year for Grace Gealey. Congrats to the happy couple. (Us Weekly)
