Kroger Recalls Its Spices Due To A Possible Salmonella Contamination

After the FDA found Salmonella in a sample of Kroger Garlic Powder from a South Carolina store, the company has recalled all products made in the same facility — Kroger Ground Cinnamon, Kroger Coarse Ground Black Pepper, Kroger Bac’n Buds, and, of course, the garlic powder itself. As the Bac'n Buds are removed from store shelves, our hearts ache for baked potato lovers everywhere. This recall will affect the 31 states in which Kroger operates and the following grocery stores: Kroger, Ralphs, Food 4 Less, Foods Co., Fred Meyer, Fry’s, King Soopers, City Market, Smith’s, Dillons, Baker’s, Gerbes, Jay C, Ruler Foods, Pay Less, Owen’s, and Scott’s. No illnesses have been reported yet, but those who have purchased any of the above products have been alerted not to use them. Customers may also return them to the store for a refund or replacement. Salmonella infections share a lot of symptoms with the flu — nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and can last up to a week. Luckily, they usually subside on their own.
