We Totally Agree With Kim Kardashian About This Twitter Problem

It might be time to offer the Queen of Selfies a second crown: the Queen of Twitter. See, when it comes to embarrassing Twitter typos, Kim Kardashian feels our pain. On Friday, she broadcast her dismay that tweets can't be edited. After all, if you catch a mistake, the only cleanup option is to trash it and start over again, which can be a pain – who can remember all those hashtags?

So Kim K. did what any frustrated user would do. She reached out to Twitter directly, and asked.

But the major difference, of course, is that when Kim tweets, Twitter listens – or at least gets back to her. Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey responded with a thumbs up, saying "Great idea!"

Kim was graciously thrilled to hear from him.

If Twitter creates an editing function as Kim (and the rest of us) hopes, it would be playing catchup to Facebook that has allowed users to tweak comments and status updates since 2011. Since then, the site has gradually rolled out its editing function, first allowing users to edit their comments for the first few seconds after posting, then removing time limits in 2012. The following year, it began allowing desktop and mobile users to edit status updates.

Perhaps Twitter has held out on editing functionality since it holds public figures more accountable for what they say, or who they tweet it to (instead of direct message privately) in the moment. But for the typo-challenged among us – normals and and mega-celebs – a second chance to proofread (prooftweet?) would surely soothe some social media angst.
