Today, Robin Williams would have turned 64 years old. While the actor and comedian is deeply missed by his many fans and the entertainment community, few feel the loss of this incredible man quite like his own children. Williams' daughter, Zelda, has opened up about her father on multiple occasions since his death on August 11 of last year. On the occasion of his birthday, she shared another message: specifically, a farewell for now to social media. In a post on Instagram, Zelda wrote: "I will be taking a break from social media in the coming weeks. It's a time better served away from the opinions or sentiments of others, and I appreciate your understanding. In my absence, I understand there will be those who wish to leave messages regarding Dad on my board, but please attempt to be respectful and kind to one another in the process, both because I will not be here to delete or mediate trolling, and because kindness is in short supply these days anyhow." Sadly, Zelda Williams became the target of ugly trolling in the weeks following her father's death: Users blamed her for his suicide and some even went so far as to send her Photoshopped images of what they claimed was his body, before Twitter stepped in and shut down the inappropriate conduct. Williams quit the platform, rejoining in September with a powerful message about never allowing the bullies to win. In February of this year, she went on Today to discuss life without her dad. "You know, it's taking it one step at a time," she said at the time. "The world keeps spinning. There's no point questioning it and no point blaming anyone for it, and there's no point blaming yourself or the world or whatever the case may be, because it happened and you have to continue to move and you have to continue to live and manage." Those words will certainly ring true for anyone who has lost someone they love. We're sending warm wishes to the entire Williams family, today especially.
