Jennifer Lawrence Is A Mom On A Mission In New Joy Trailer

Jennifer Lawrence has joined forces with writer / director David O. Russell for a biopic that's sure to put the 24-year-old star in contention come Oscar season. Lawrence is undoubtedly the star in the newly released trailer for Joy. The film tells the story of Joy Mangano, a single mother who invented the Miracle Mop. She achieved Home Shopping Network success, but behind the scenes, her life was much more complicated.

The film also stars frequent David O. Russell collaborators Bradley Cooper, Robert De Niro, and Elisabeth Röhm. Cooper plays a Home Shopping Network executive who helps Mangano get the Miracle Mop off the ground.

From the looks of the trailer, though, it's Lawrence's film. She and Russell have made Oscar gold before. Lawrence won an Oscar for her role in Silver Linings Playbook, and she was nominated for her work in American Hustle. David O. Russell helmed both.

Joy hits theaters Christmas Day, and we hope Jennifer Lawrence is currently practicing walking up stairs in a gown so she doesn't trip this time.
