Britney Spears Expertly Fires Back At Iggy Azalea

Oh, dear. Iggy Azalea totally could have gotten away with her remarks last weekend about a lack of promotion being to blame for the inability of her single "Pretty Girls" to storm the charts. Fans of the rapper's collaborator on the song, Britney Spears, took the statements as a dig. Azalea need only have clarified her tweets or tried putting a positive spin on them to defuse the situation. As we know all too well, however, that's not really how she handles things.

Azalea's original comment about working with Spears was passive-aggressive, but fairly mild.

"It’s difficult to send a song up the charts without additional promo and TV performances,” the Australian rapper wrote during a Twitter Q&A. “I would have enjoyed performing it a lot, I think it got off to a powerful start. But you need content to compete in 2015.”

After facing fallout from those who took her comments as a diss aimed at Spears, Azalea ramped up the drama.

Here are some of her tweets in response to the Britney backlash.

Azalea may have a point in that it's common for friends to disagree, but most disagreements aren't handled on the Twittersphere. Taking everything public has a way of belying the best of intentions.

And what does Spears have to say? She's keeping mum over the controversy, unless this is a total dig about Azalea canceling her tour.
Sigh. We miss heart-to-hearts.
