Despite a reality television empire, arguably the most recognizable face in the world, and a legion of die-hard social media fans, Kim Kardashian still found a reason to believe her career was over... and no, it wasn't that notorious sex tape.

In a revealing new interview with Sir Martin Sorrell, the CEO of British advertising giant WPP, Kardashian revealed that she truly believed her career to be dead following her 2011 divorce from Kris Humphries.

"At the time – when I was going through the divorce – I did say to everyone, 'You guys, I think our careers are over. I hope you've saved your money. Now we'll just continue to do our clothing stores and what we started off doing before the show,'" Kim shared.

Kardashian wed NBA player Humphries in a lavish, nationally televised ceremony that reportedly cost millions. When she called the marriage off after a whopping 72 days, the 34-year-old unsurprisingly received a ton of backlash.

"I totally thought it was over. I was being very paranoid. I just took some time off, and the time was really good for me," she said. "I cancelled everything – I had a book tour, I had a fragrance launch, I had everything you could possibly imagine and I just cancelled it all. I took time for me."

Her time off definitely paid off. Kardashian was able to resurrect her reputation and went on to marry rapper Kanye West in 2014. She is currently expecting the couple's second child, a son.

Her professional success hasn't slowed down, either. Kim is killing it in the mobile app department, thanks to her wildly successful game Kim Kardashian: Hollywood. She also recently released a coffee table book of self portraits (aka selfies), aptly titled Selfish.
