Inside New York’s Most Stylish (& Adorable) Puppy Prom

What do you get when you mix dresses, dogs, and dancing? Only the most adorable party New York City has ever seen.
Thursday night, BarkPost held its first annual Puppy Prom in Brooklyn, welcoming stylish, animal-loving New Yorkers (and their equally fashionable pups) to the hippest school dance, ever. No awkward slow-dancing or bad fruit punch here. Instead, puppy-obsessed fashion designer (and R29 fave!) Rachel Antonoff hosted the bash with the love of her life in tow.
"When I found my dog Lafitte via Social Tees, he was 24 hours away from being put down and could barely use his hind legs," Antonoff tells Refinery29. "Now a happy, bouncy puppy, he has taught me so much about both perseverance and table manners. I feel overwhelmed thinking of all the others like him, the ones that still need to be rescued. How do we save them all? What can we do? And the answer is, we do it together, one dog at a time.”
So, what better way to bring pet parents and hopefuls together than a prom-style bash where attendees can not only celebrate the ones they’ve rescued, but can adopt a new best friend from Animal Haven? In addition to benefitting a worthy cause, the Puppy Prom has pretty much made our wildest dreams come true: fun-loving pups rocking their Sunday best. What more would we ask for?
