A Beautiful Mind Mathematician John Nash Dead After Fatal Car Crash

John Nash, Nobel Prize-winning mathematician and the subject of the 2001 Oscar-winning film A Beautiful Mind ,died at the age of 86 in a taxi crash Saturday, reports The Huffington Post.

According to New Jersey State Police Sgt. Gregory Williams, John and his wife of nearly 60 years, Alicia, were ejected from the cab on the New Jersey Turnpike after the car lost control and crashed into a guard rail. 

"It doesn't appear that they were wearing seatbelts," he told NJ.com.     

The taxi driver, however, was flown to a hospital in New Jersey with “non-life-threatening injuries.”

Russell Crowe, who played John in the Academy Award-winning film about his game theory work and struggle with mental illness, tweeted his condolences Sunday morning: "Stunned...my heart goes out to John & Alicia & family. An amazing partnership. Beautiful minds, beautiful hearts."
