Update: Federal investigators Wednesday afternoon say Amtrak train 188 was traveling over 100 m.p.h. when it crashed. The portion of the track it was on has a speed limit of 70, and it was heading into a curve where the limit is just 50 m.p.h.
The National Transportation Safety Board, which is looking into the accident, tweeted the update about the train's excessive speed. At least seven people are now confirmed dead in Tuesday night's accident, with over 200 wounded.

Other passengers posted photos of rescue workers making their way through the cars, which The New York Times reported was treacherous due to the scattered luggage, twisted metal, and broken glass.

The cause of the crash, and whether speed was involved, is still unclear, but the National Transportation Safety Board is investigating. Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter said that there were still passengers who were not accounted for, according to CNN.
This has been a terrible week for Amtrak; on Sunday, one of its trains hit a flatbed truck in Lousiana, killing the truck's driver.
