Ryan Reynolds Kicks Off His Facebook With This Awesomely Retro ’90s Pic

Ryan Reynolds may have been mysteriously missing from the Met Ball this year, but the actor and new daddy cropped up somewhere else this week: Facebook. The Woman in Gold star didn't wait for Thursday to post a major throwback pic as his inaugural post on the social media platform — one that only fans whose historic Reynolds knowledge runs deep (and north of the United States) will recognize. For those of you who don't recall, back in the '90s Mr. Blake Lively starred on a little show called Hillside in Canada — which, if you watched Nickelodeon at the time, you may know by its U.S. title Fifteen. The series ran four seasons and tread across all facets of teenage existence, from alcohol abuse to dating, divorce, and heartbreak. Needless to say, it laid the groundwork for Reynolds’s unique ability to toe the line between hamming it up and evoking absolute sincerity.  Along with the pic, the actor also penned a quick caption. “Nice to be on Facebook. It’s always good to be fashionably 12 years late.” To that, we would say: Welcome to the party, Ryan Reynolds — the social media world has been waiting for you. Now you better start sharing cute pics of baby James, stat. That’s what Facebook is for these days, after all — cute kiddos, selfies, and pet photos. Also, we'll let it slide for his momentous debut, but we expect all subsequent retro pics to be posted on Thursdays, along with the hashtag #TBT. Consider this lesson No. 1, Ryan.
