How To Wear A Floppy Hat Year-Round, Courtesy Of Jaime King

If you, like millions, spent Saturday cheering on your favorite horses while knocking back mint juleps, you probably ended up with a fancy hat in your closet. The good news? You don't have to wait a whole year to dig it back out. Instead of wearing it Derby-style with pastel prints, take a cue from Jaime King.

Yesterday in New York City, the actress managed to make a pale wide-brimmed hat look totally cool — and not at all country club. She wore it with distressed pencil-leg jeans and a slouchy Chloé sweater in a matching cream shade. Between the feathery fringe trim and super slouchy fit, the top brought an avant-garde edge to the outfit (and sneakily hid her growing baby bump). She finished the look with a sharp red clutch and shiny oxfords, two sleek accessories that kept the hat from veering prissy.

If you're bored with baseball hats and sick of skull caps, go ahead and give this fancy chapeau a try. But, save your floral sundress for a different day.
