Miley Cyrus Reveals Non-Heterosexual Relationships, Why She Dyed Her Armpit Hair Pink

Miley Cyrus made a surprising admission in a phone interview with the Associated Press yesterday; not all of her past relationships were "straight, heterosexual" ones.

Though Cyrus didn't elaborate, she did explain how her provocative image and self-expression are linked to a greater cause. The pop star, who took homeless youth, Jesse Helt, as her date to the MTV VMAs last year, has launched the Happy Hippie Foundation, which seeks to provide support for homeless and LGBT teens.

"The position I'm in, I feel like I've got a lot of power," Cyrus told the AP. "But, so many kids don't feel that way. They're under their parents' rule.

"We're consciously ignoring [teenage homelessness] at all times, but it's always happening right in front of us," she added.

Part of the Happy Hippie's work will include today's launch of collaborative music videos featuring Joan Jett and Ariana Grande, designed to raise awareness and money for the cause.

"It's not going to be an overnight process," Cyrus said. "You've got to get into a lot of people's brains and you've got to really make this a topic."

The singer admitted that her habit of pushing the envelope has helped her get into those brains.

"When you have all eyes on you, what are you saying? And, that's what I had to ask myself a lot," she said. "It's like, I know you're going to look at me more if my (breasts) are out, so look at me. And, then I'm going to tell you about my foundation for an hour and totally hustle you."

That pink underarm hair is all a part of it, both a celebration of who Cyrus is and a statement of support to the youths she's helping.

"The pink pits are saying, 'Don't tell me what to do,'" she said. "It's back to what I'm preaching in a way, you know, telling these kids. I'm not just saying you be yourself and I'm going to go be Miley Cyrus. I'm saying I'm going to be my self, too."

It's philanthropy, Miley Cyrus-style. Get involved, or butt out.
