Thanks, SNL: Scarlett Johansson Finally Gets Her Black Widow Movie

Last night, Saturday Night Live and Scarlett Johansson took
aim at two things we love to see taken down: sexist attitudes and awful
romantic comedies that perpetuate sexist attitudes. The movie trailer spoof for "Black Widow: Age of Me" got so much right.

"Does Marvel not know how to make a girl superhero
movie?" movie trailer voice-over guy asks, echoing the question we ask
after every announcement of a comic book movie. "Chill. Marvel gets
women."

And by getting women, they mean hiring the "writers of
27 Dresses," one of the universal stand-ins for the demise of the rom-com.

The spoof, which pairs the leather-clad heroine with
supervillain robot Ultron, could be seen as kind of a bold move for the
franchise star. (It was also one of the only funny skits that made use of
Johansson's skills.) Then again, Marvel should really be apologizing to
Johansson for never entertaining the idea of a Black Widow movie. She's a major reason Avengers: Age of Ultron is having the
second-biggest opening weekends of all time, right after Avengers.

BTW, Taran Killam as stereotypical gay BFF Thor is our
spirit animal for today.
