Meet The New 2015 Victoria’s Secret Angels

Victoria's Secret may not have publicly responded to Lane Bryant's #imnoangel lingerie campaign, but VS is fighting news with news. Today, the brand announced that it's adding ten additional Angels to the existing roster of five (that's a 300% increase in wings, folks). Joining Lily Aldridge, Alessandra Ambrosio, Adriana Lima, Behati Prinsloo, and Candice Swanepoel are a lineup of ten women. Of the new additions, three are WOC, three are from the United States, and all ten have already had impressive accomplishments in the fashion industry.
Of course, there are zero who break the mold of your typical, size-two supermodel, which feels almost like a deliberate refusal to participate in the body diversity conversation that's dominated our RSS feeds for the past month. With the biggest lineup in history, it seems like a missed opportunity to branch out and reexamine whether Victoria's Secret's standard for beauty is still in line with the rest of society's, too.
Why is this important? A Victoria's Secret modeling contract is one of the most lucrative, career-making achievements for emerging models. It's the difference from having to work bone-breaking hours while drowning in debt to having the financial and professional autonomy to call the shots. Past Angels like Tyra Banks, Chanel Iman, Gisele Bündchen, Miranda Kerr, and Karlie Kloss have parlayed their Victoria's Secret cache into incredibly successful careers, and we have no doubt that these ten women will be able to do the same. Ahead, find the ten new Angels along with their slightly off-putting dating-profile-esque official bios — plus a little extra input from us.
