Longtime music journalist Lisa Robinson has seen it all. She's partied with Andy Warhol, dined with Kim and Kanye at The Spotted Pig, and hung out with Lady Gaga over a bowl of homemade pasta (from Mother Monster's stash of recipes, of course). She frequented the legendary CBGB, and followed bands like The Rolling Stones on tour. She was one of the few female writers in a male-dominated industry, working her way toward countless Vanity Fair cover stories and a slew of exclusive interviews only the most trusted insider could score.

Her memoir, There Goes Gravity (available today in paperback), provides an intimate look at one of the most creative periods in the New York music scene — its transformation from the hardcore rock 'n' roll of the '70s to the mainstream, multi-million dollar magnate it is today. Her firsthand account is the closest you can get to these wild, insanely memorable moments without having been there yourself.

Ahead, Robinson dishes on five of her craziest NYC nights. From getting down with Elton John to gossiping with Freddie Mercury, she shares rare insights (and some awesome stories) of the city New York used to be.
