When we think of Jordana Brewster, we instantly picture her signature strong brow and that enviably chiseled jawline. Of course, there's more to the actress than those features: For one, when it comes to all-natural, green beauty, she really knows her stuff. This and more was uncovered by her makeup artist, Tina Turnbow, who picked Brewster's brain about all things beauty while doing her makeup and snapping photos. As for that perfect topknot? It was crafted by hairstylist Marc Mena for Warren Tricomi.
Brewster has been busy working — Dallas starts on TNT on August 18, and her film North of Hell comes out in the fall. But, that doesn't mean she's slacking on her skin-care routine. Or, well, anywhere. In between hiking, meditating, and doing charity work, she also takes time to find the best, nontoxic products for her son, Julian.

Your skin looks gorgeous. What's your latest go-to skin-care brand?
"Right now, I am obsessed with Ren. The products don't have a lot of perfumes or additives, and the moisturizers and serums work really well on my skin. I also love their rose oil."

Do you have a DIY beauty trick you could share?
"It sounds so odd, but when I feel a zit coming on, I dab it with white-wine vinegar and leave it on overnight. I also love Dr. Hauschka's Bronzing Tint. I haven't yet found an all-natural self-tanner, so I mix the concentrate with Cane and Austin sunscreen.

Do you try to get natural, nontoxic products for your son, too?
"Yes. I can't protect him from everything out there, but I do my best. I use bamboo diapers, which are biodegradable and all-natural. I also received a lot of help from Maia James, the cofounder of Gimme the Good Stuff. She helped me find cribs and mattresses that were nontoxic. Now that Julian can stand up and gnaws on his crib, I'm very grateful we went natural. It brings me peace of mind. "

Tell me a bit about the charity work you’ve been doing.
“I’ve been working with No Kid Hungry, an amazing organization that helps kids fight hunger through different initiatives. Most recently, they provided breakfast at school. Something as basic as breakfast has an impact on overall concentration and school performance. NKH also has programs that educate kids and their families about proper nutrition.”

You’re originally from New York City, but do you find that living in L.A. provides you with more ways to lead a healthier lifestyle?
“In L.A., I have access to nature. I can swim in the ocean, hike in the mountains. Nothing beats that. There is also a large community of Vedic meditators in L.A. The only drawback to living in L.A. is the amount of time I spend in my car. In New York, I am constantly walking and on the move. I walk so much I don't have to hit the gym.”
