Kerry Washington Live-Tweeted Scandal While She Was In Labor

Olivia Pope is a gladiator in Washington, but Kerry Washington is the real deal gladiator everywhere else. One of the most entertaining aspects of watching Scandal is that Shonda Rhimes and her cast live-tweet episodes. It's either a blessing or a curse, depending on your time zone and the state of your DVR. Or, as it turns out, the state of your uterus.

Washington gave birth on April 21, 2014, to a baby girl named Isabelle Amarachi Asomugha, but the word didn’t get out until two weeks later. Washington did her best in general to keep her pregnancy out of the spotlight, but eventually not even Olivia Pope's artfully draped and expensive leisurewear could keep her secret hidden.

That didn't stop Washington’s gladiatorial spirit, though. She told The EDIT that she prepped tweets for the episodes she’d be pushing through. "Every Thursday within three weeks of my (daughter Isabelle's) due date, I loaded up pre-tweets based on the episodes and what I would want to say. I tweeted in the very early stages of my labor. I figured that if I went completely silent on social media, then people would know I was in the hospital!"

Well played, Ms. Washington. Well. Played. (The EDIT)
