The unforgettable Amy Winehouse is the subject of an upcoming documentary, Amy, which will come out in the U.K. this July.

Don't be worried that Amy is a gross cash grab, though. Director Asif Kapadia won a BAFTA for his critically acclaimed documentary Senna in 2010, which explored the life of the late Formula One racer Ayrton Senna. Amy will have plenty of footage and recordings that the public has never seen or heard before, which will be a welcome treat for fans that have surely memorized every word of Back to Black.

Universal Music Group showed a very select group of folks a teaser of the doc at their pre-Grammy brunch in February. Universal Music UK CEO and Chairman David Joseph told those gathered: "About two years ago we decided to make a movie about her — her career and her life. It's a very complicated and tender movie. It tackles lots of things about family and media, fame, addiction, but most importantly, it captures the very heart of what she was about, which is an amazing person and a true musical genius."

There's currently no release date for the United States, but we can anticipate someone snagging this high-profile doc soon. (The Hollywood Reporter)
