Meet The Other Kind Of Nike Swoosh

UPDATE: The NikeLab x Sacai collaboration is now shoppable. Click through to see the collection in all its swoosh-y glory.
The words "Nike" and "swoosh" have gone hand in hand for as long as we can remember — actually, since the ‘70s. But, the newest collaboration with the athletic-wear giant is perhaps the first that truly embodies a swoosh. We're talking that gust of wind that happens when someone sprints to the finish line, or when a basketball hits nothing but net, and now, the sound of a NikeLab x Sacai windbreaker as Binx Walton power-poses in the collaboration's campaign photos.
As longtime fans of the wonderfully weird Chitose Abe-designed brand, we were all over the announcement of a Nike project last month. And now, with the release of the corresponding campaign and lookbook images, the collection proves to deliver both Sacai’s signature pleats and exaggerated shapes and Nike’s athletic expertise. Together, the two create pieces that celebrate movement as much as unapologetic sartorial boldness. For instance, there are pleats that flare out with every jump, and sweats that favor exaggerated silhouettes where other gym clothes stay streamlined or even skin-tight.
While the excess material might slow anyone down who's actually competing in a high-level sporting event, the pieces sure look good to us. Click through to see why we'll happily accept last place when the line launches on March 19.
