Why 8 Major Designers Just Got A Makeover

While some people might put quite a bit of stock into the woman whose name appears on a clothing label, the latest Nordstrom collaboration is more about the women whose names don’t. Diane von Fustenberg, Tory Burch, and The Honest Company’s Jessica Alba are a recognizable bunch, but what about the artists who weave their custom fabrics and hand-print the patterns for each and every item? This is where Piece & Co. and Nordstrom come into play.

In a partnership that paired together talented women around the world and designers who hail from as close as NYC, Piece & Co.’s soon-to-launch Nordstrom collab provided a unique opportunity for both sets of creative minds.

“When you invest in a woman, you invest in her family and community, too,” says Piece & Co.’s founder Kathleen Wright, of the custom collection of one-of-a-kind designs crafted by artisans in over 30 countries around the world.

The fruit of this (ethically sourced) labor is debuting this week at Nordstrom, aptly called "She Makes It." Think cool, athletic-inspired Tory Burch separates in a unique cracked-paint pattern made in Zambia, or a custom ikat printed button-down from Current/Elliott that will become the throw-on-and-go staple of your spring and summer wardrobe. Perhaps it’s easy to look at it all as a limited-edition collection to scoop up now, but really this small range also means 5,000 job opportunities for women, which translates to invaluable financial support for them and their communities.
