Dan Stevens Will Play The Beast Opposite Emma Watson

Put those casting rumors to rest. Dan Stevens will play the Beast in Disney's live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast, according to The Hollywood Reporter. THR also writes that Luke Evans is reportedly in negotiations to play Gaston. The former Downton Abbey actor will play opposite Emma Watson as Belle. The actress confirmed her role in January in a message to her fans. In February, Tracking Board reported a rumor that Ryan Gosling was in talks to play the Beast. The news of Stevens' casting doesn't mean Gosling was never a candidate for the role.
