Benedict Cumberbatch is already universally admired. But, his latest actions will really solidify him as the most perfect man alive. After learning 14-year-old Sherlock fan Eve Shepherd had passed away, the actor wrote a letter to her family. In it, he apologized for missing the funeral because he was "filming the show she loved," People reports.
According to People, Shepherd was born premature. During her short life, she underwent over 200 surgeries — her first a tracheostomy at three months old. Shepherd's father claims Cumberbatch once sent her a signed picture "wishing her well and saying that he want[s] to meet her." People reports the Sherlock theme song was played during the procession since Shepherd was such a dedicated fan. Below, the full text of the letter, which was read aloud at her funeral.  "I send my deepest sympathies to Eve's family. To lose someone so young who fought for her health all her life must be beyond endurance.  I hope they can take solace from the fact that she was clearly much loved and her support of our show is hugely appreciated and shall be remembered. I wish I could be there but sadly am filming the show she loved. God rest her soul. With all my love and sympathies, Benedict xxx." [People]
