Iggy Azalea Is Not Happy With Steve Madden, Tweets About It

UPDATE: Iggy Azalea has set the record straight in regard to her comments about the "gross" photos Steve Madden had posted on a since-removed Tumblr account promoting the rapper's collaboration with the designer. And, she'd like you to know she doesn't have a problem with Steve Madden — she just really, really has a problem with socks and sandals. In an Instagram post last night, The New Classic artist stated: "What I had a 'rant' about on Twitter isn't in regards to these pictures," she said, referring to the color-rich images she stars in, "it was about another, different set of images I wasn't a part of creating that I felt weren't reflective of my vision and direction for the collection...I just don't support neoprene Jesus sandals WITH socks." There you have it. At the end of the day, not everyone is going to love the once-taboo style trick. And, while Iggy expresses that she would still love her fans' support as her collection launches today, we're hoping that she's still in good graces with Steve Madden — according to her, the collaborators still have three more seasons of footwear planned.

Originally Published January 29, 2015: We can think of some amazing celebrity fashion collaboration teams — Alexa Chung and Madewell, Solange and Puma, Cara Delevingne and Mulberry. And, as far as we know, these have been matches made in sartorial heaven. But, with the Iggy Azalea and Steve Madden collaboration set to launch next month, it's already evident that this partnership was not a harmonious one. At least, that's what we can assume from Azalea's latest tweet. Just this afternoon, the Australian rapper shared this remark to her 4+ million followers: "@SteveMadden kinda ruined the creative direction when u added those gross extra pictures to a random tumbler page I had no part in creating." Since she's not exactly mincing words here, it's clear that Iggy is less than thrilled with this Tumblr site, which was teasing images of the upcoming footwear styles before it was quickly shut down. While it's unclear which specific photos Iggy is referring to as "gross" (ouch), it's obvious she wants to make it known that she had nothing to do with the promotional page. Unsurprisingly, the rapper has now removed the Tweet from her account entirely (screenshot above), and the Tumblr site has been removed, as well (screenshot below). What this public show of disapproval may mean for the launch of the collaboration next month is still to be determined. Hopefully, the wheels are still in motion — we were kinda looking forward to those fancy baby blue platforms.
