Just as the excitement from its last designer collaboration dies down, Target hits us with news of what's next. The announcement was made tonight at a lavish party at New York's Four Seasons — and ladies and gents, it's going to be a very Lilly Pulitzer spring.
For those who don't know, Lilly Pulitzer is known for sunny, vibrantly colorful shift dresses that defined preppy style in the '50s and '60s. It's an interesting choice on the heels of last spring's collaboration with Peter Pilotto, a decidedly more insider-y designer also known for his way with color and print. The brand's collaboration with Target will include 250 pieces of apparel, accessories, beauty, and home decor, and range from $2 to $150 (with nearly 200 items under $30). Also, for the first time, this collaboration will include plus sizes, which was one of the major complaints of Target's most recent Altuzarra outing.

Pulitzer, a New York socialite with a rebellious streak, went to the famous Miss Porter's School with Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. In her 20s, she moved to Palm Beach and opened an orange juice stand. As legend has it, she began designing her printed shift dresses to hide the juice stains. Soon, her customers wanted in, and an icon of American resort wear was born. Lilly Pulitzer passed away last year, but her namesake label is still a hit today.
The collection arrives April 19, and we can't wait to see what Target and the "princess of prints" have in store. Our guess? Packing for your summer vacation just became a snap.
