Sure, Vogue knighted Kim and Kanye the world's most talked about couple for 2014. Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin win for the breakup heard 'round the world, though. In March, the two divorced, calling it "consciously uncoupling." Naturally, this came up in Paltrow's new interview with Marie Claire.
As the cover star of the mag's February issue, the jill of all trades addressed the reasons leading up to her split with Martin. “There was nothing dramatic or anything," she told the magazine. "I had built my life on trying to be all things to all people, and I just couldn’t do it anymore, and I really had the sense that I wasn’t allowed to have needs, and I had to prove my specialness or self-worth by doing all this stuff and taking care of everybody else, and I just sort of hit a wall.”

Though breakups are sad, Paltrow seems quite happy with the way things ended up between the pair. “We’ve worked really fucking hard to get to [this] point. But we’re very, very close, and it’s so nice. I feel like it’s, in a way, the relationship we were meant to have," she told Marie Claire.
You can read the full interview in Marie Claire's February issue, which hits newsstands January 13.
