In the 2004 masterpiece that is Mean Girls, Gretchen Weiners sums up dating with two sentences: "Ex-boyfriends are just off limits to friends. I mean, that's just, like, the Rules of Feminism!" Though you'd be hard-pressed to find that actually printed inside a feminist's guide to romance, the unwritten statute still abides. Just ask Taylor Swift's ex-BFF Chelsea Alford.
The 24-year-old recently disclosed a bunch of stories to the Daily Mail — including one about how Alford's husband Jordan broke up with Swift for her. (Why Alford is coming forward with these anecdotes now is unclear. The thirst is real, folks.) "They dated in freshman year, but then after that, girl code, once you date an ex-boyfriend you're not friends anymore," Alford said. "'Picture To Burn' is about him because he's always had big old trucks and stuff."

After the song came out in 2006, Alford was "shocked" to find Swift had written about Jordan. "What other ones are about us?" she added.
Alford revealed it became a guessing game amongst Swift's Nashville schoolmates as to who else she was writing about on her self-titled album. "There were other songs on there about people that we talked about more [sic] probably, like 'Tears On My Guitar' [is] about the guy she never dated. We were like 'that's a little odd.'"
Though the hatchet between Swift and Alford was buried a long time ago ("We were 14. We were just being girly, snarky."), the guessing game surrounding Swift's song lyrics still exists. Betcha Alford and her friends couldn't have predicted that since she admitted "nobody thought she was actually going to go anywhere." Boy, how the tables have turned. (Daily Mail)
