Joe Cocker, English rock and blues star, has died after a battle with lung cancer, The Guardian reports. Cocker was arguably most famous for his cover of the Beatles' "With A Little Help From My Friends," which was used over the opening credits of The Wonder Years. He was 70.
Cocker won a Grammy award in 1983 for "Up Where We Belong," a duet with Jennifer Warnes. Fans will also remember him for his 1975 hit single "You Are So Beautiful."
Cocker's career spanned more than four decades and included performances at Woodstock in the summer of 1969 and Buckingham Palace in 2002 for the Golden Jubilee of Elizabeth II. Over the years, he collaborated with everyone from Phil Collins to Carlos Santana. Despite being hailed by critics and celebrated by fellow musicians, Cocker was never inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
"Hugely talented, a true star, but a kind and humble man who loved to perform. Anyone who ever saw him live will never forget him," his agent Barrie Marshall said in an interview with the BBC.
