In October, TMZ obtained a tape from Stephen Collins' estranged wife Faye Grant. The recording was from a 2012 therapy session, during which Collins tells Grant he exposed himself to several young girls. Today, Collins released a confession exclusively to People.
The 7th Heaven actor admits there were three victims of his sexual abuse, spanning from 1973 to 1994. Collins told the magazine in the past 20 years he has not had "an impulse to act out in any such way."
"Forty years ago, I did something terribly wrong that I deeply regret. I have been working to atone for it ever since. I've decided to address these issues publicly because two months ago, various news organizations published a recording made by my then-wife, Faye Grant, during a confidential marriage therapy session in January 2012. This session was recorded without the therapist's or my knowledge or consent," he told People.

The actor is set to speak with Yahoo! Global News Anchor Katie Couric about his statement and the events that occurred. The interview will stream on Yahoo! and air Friday on 20/20 on ABC.
Collins' full statement will appear in the next issue of People, which hits newsstands Friday.
"As difficult as this is, I want people to know the truth," Collins told People.
