It’s Official: American Apparel Fires Dov Charney, Hires A Woman As CEO

We first learned back in June that Dov Charney’s days were numbered at the brand that brought you a rainbow of basics served up with soft-core advertisements. Today, in an official statement, American Apparel has not only confirmed that the disgraced CEO has been terminated from the brand, but it has also chosen a successor. Her name is Paula Schneider.
Schneider has been selected by American Apparel’s board of directors to essentially lead them in a new direction. It's one that the Los Angeles-based brand began to forge back in the spring, when Charney was initially suspended.

“This company needs a permanent CEO who can bring stability and strong leadership in this time of transition,” the board’s co-chairman David Danziger states, “and we believe Ms. Schneider fits the bill perfectly.”
It’s yet to be seen what kind of leadership Schneider will provide when she officially takes the reins on January 5. Though we do have hope that the nostalgic label can redeem itself, even in light of the former CEO's many headline-making scandals.
For skeptics, consider Exhibit A: Brendan.
