Instagram Just Dropped Five New Filters On Us

The holidays came early for the creatives.

Instagram debuted five brand spanking new filters today. Now amateur and professional 'Grammers alike have 19 filters to choose from (20 if you consider #nofilter a filter). Talk about pressure.

The five new filters — Slumber, Crema, Ludwig, Aden, and Perpetua — are the photo editing app's newest additions since 2012. An Instagram blog post explained how due to the advancements in smartphone photography, users have been hungry for more nuanced filters and means of editing. The five new effects are subtle in their edits, but that could be just the thing to take your basic-looking photo of Chicago's Cloud Gate (you know, that massive silver bean in Millennium Park?) and transform it in to a framable work of art.

They're also a likely source of Insta-anxiety as the pressure to select the perfect filter has increased. That's a detail to worry about when you get there. You've got to capture the right moment first, after all.
