Our envy of Taylor Swift's birthday continues today, as the 25-year-old shares messages and gifts from her friends. Late last night, she retweeted a Tumblr post from Lorde that makes us really believe in their friendship.
"Today one of my sisters turns 25. Sure, she isn't a reeeal sister, and I haven't known her thaaat long, but it feels like forever—together, we've navigated our respective crazy years in work," Lorde begins her sweet note, describing how they've cheered each other on through career milestones this year. Just as you remember how your friends supported you through your first gig at the coffee shop or very important internship, Taylor supported Lorde as she did the cover of Rolling Stone and wrote a song for Mockingjay.

Through Instagram posts from Taylor and her wide circle of famous friends (Karlie Kloss, Lena Dunham, Emma Stone, Selena Gomez, Ellie Goulding, and on and on), we've gotten the impression that these are girls who don't subscribe to the notion of the catty female friend (though they do love their female cat friends). Lorde enforces that image, writing about how Taylor's circle "are there for each other, dancing without inhibition, laughing for hours, and killing it at work, and we're pretty much all here 'cause of her."
But, she's not just a member of the inner circle, Lorde is a fan, too. "What I'm trying to say is, she's magic," the 18-year-old New Zealander concludes. "It makes me all blushy knowing she's got my back."
