The Instagram Trend Everyone Is Talking About

Photographed by Erin Yamagata.
One thing has become increasingly clear in the age of social media: A lot of trends originate — and spread — on Instagram. Whether we're talking waterfall braids or cronuts, if you can Instagram it and it's pretty, people will copy it. Well, there's one Insta craze makeup artist Wayne Goss thinks should be illegal, and he told The Cut all about it. What is it, pray tell? Those faded, ombré brows.
We've actually touched on this fad before. Our very own senior beauty editor Phillip Picardi bravely tried Insta-brows for a photo shoot — about ridiculous YouTube makeup tutorials, of all things — and the results were hilarious. For those who haven't been exposed to this questionable sensation (or if you've seen it, but didn't realize it was a thing on social media), let us explain further: It's a set of drawn-on arches that are lighter in the middle and darker at the tip. They may photograph well, but IRL, they look a little cray.
Goss isn't a fan for plenty of valid reasons. But, in true to-each-their-own spirit, he gives tips on how to work these brows if you want to go for it. Click over to watch the video. (The Cut)
