TMZ is reporting that Joan Rivers' heir apparent on Fashion Police has been chosen. Saucy comedian Kathy Griffin is reportedly stepping into the host seat on E!'s fashion review panel show. Sources connected with the show told TMZ that Griffin will be flanked by Joan's daughter Melissa Rivers, Kelly Osbourne, and Giuliana Rancic. It remains unclear if George Kotsiopoulos will remain on the hosting panel.
The show's format and frequency will also be changing slightly in the wake of its major loss. Rivers was a huge presence on the celebrity fashion criticism scene; Griffin, not as much. Therefore, Fashion Police will not be a weekly series going forward. Instead, "E! will roll it out during awards shows and other occasions as event programming," according to TMZ.
Can anyone truly step into Joan Rivers' sequined suit and lead the Joan Rangers? Probably not. But, Us Weekly spoke to a source close to the show who revealed that, "Joan has always given her blessing to Kathy. [She] wanted Kathy to be her successor."
