Kim Kardashian Brings Back Your Choker From Middle School

Forgive us. We’re feeling all kinds of nostalgic today. And, sure, it's partially because we just found out that our favorite adolescent shopping mecca is basically done for. But, also because the low hum of ‘90s and early aughts styling noise has reached a new level of volume. Once Kim Kardashian — a woman whose sense of style is usually more of-the-moment and immediately plucked from the runway — starts championing a trend, you can be sure it's not just a minor fad. Here, she's thrown her weight behind the mega choker you once wore to a sixth-grade dance (minus the carats).
In an asymmetric Cushnie et Ochs dress at this past weekend’s LACMA Gala, Kardashian paired her curve-hugging design with another clingy accessory: this blinged-out choker. The throwback jewelry trend has been making a strong comeback over the past year, and with the Kim K. cosign it won't be slowing down anytime soon. While her midnight blue dress doesn’t call for too many embellishments, her bold, solitary choice of an accessory is a knockout.
Do you think Kim's '90s necklace feels out of place against her subtly elegant dress? Is this collar just a wee bit too distracting? Is any bling too blingy for Kim? These are questions we welcome you to tackle in the comments.
