Emma Watson Dedicated An Award To Her Deceased Hamster

When you're a big movie star and you're all super famous, it's important to remember the "little people." You know, those who were by your side before you got all Hollywood. Emma Watson really took that notion to heart this weekend. In an acceptance speech for her BAFTA award, the actress dedicated it to a little-known friend from her childhood — her hamster.
"The British film industry hasn't just been a workplace for me, it's been the place I've grown up, it's been a surrogate family, really," Watson told the audience. "And, a sweet but slightly morbid example of this, is when on the first Harry Potter film, my on-set hamster, Millie, had a heart attack and didn't quite make it." Very sad, indeed.
This moment stands out to her, though, because of how the set decorators helped her through the loss of Millie. "[They] built a small, mahogany-sized hamster coffin. It had a velvet lining and a silver plaque on the front which had Millie's name engraved on it," she explained. "What I'm trying to say is, you're all very special to me, and your vote of confidence means a lot." Before the mic drop, though, she dedicated her award to her furry friend. "Thank you very, very much, and rest in peace, Millie. This one's for you." Ahead, the full speech. (Telegraph)
