Lorde Joins The Chemical Brothers On Mockingjay‘s Revolt Song

Lorde has assembled quite the band of sonic troops for her Mockingjay team. She's convinced newcomers like CHVRCHES and Tinashé to lend their voices to the soundtrack, as well as bringing electro influencers like The Chemical Brothers on board.
"This Is Not A Game" is the British duo's contribution to the newest Hunger Games album; the track features Miguel and Lorde adds some of her cunning witch vibes for good measure. The Chemical Brothers production is aggressive — a decidedly more threatening call to arms than Lorde's own "Yellow Flicker Beat," which has a more looming sense of revolt like her Tears for Fears cover from Catching Fire (and this year's Dracula Untold film).
It's Lorde's curatorial decision to enlist The Chemical Brothers on a soundtrack targeted towards the young adult franchise's tweenage audience that's particularly interesting, though. Not only is she progressing the genre the electronic duo helped make into a new direction, she's introducing a younger audience to the artists who helped shape it in the first place. Lorde did it with TFF and she's doing it again with The Chemical Brothers. She's the mockingjay of the music industry — one that we, if Panem were real, would totally keep around for good measure (and tunes).
