One of Pharrell Williams' greatest strengths (besides looking good in really big hats) is his ability to align himself with some of the most innovative creatives on the planet.
And, among his favorite collaborators has been the Japanese artist Takashi Murakami.
The pair first worked together in 2009, when they created a jewel-encrusted mixed-media sculpture that eventually sold for $2 million. Now, they've unleashed their latest effort: the brand new video for "It Girl," the new single from Pharrell's monster album, G I R L.
Fans of Murakami's work know the drill — the artist typically uses a neon color palette and trippy visuals pulled straight from the world of anime and videogames. In other words, the perfect optical complement to Pharrell's sunny pop anthem.

Their collaboration works in both directions: Earlier this year, Pharrell remixed the theme song to Murakami’s film Jellyfish Eyes. Clearly, these two dig each other's style. Watch the video below, and you'll see why.
