The iPhone 6 May Not Break, But Boy Does It Bend

It looks like it's not all sunshine and lollipops in Cupertino, California. After Apple sold a whopping 10 million units of its brand new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in its first weekend, the tech giant once again found itself on top of the mobile heap. But, Apple CEO Tim Cook might find himself in full damage control mode after reports surfaced online that the new device bends after being stored in pants pockets for too long.
According to MacRumors, some early adopters of the new iPhone 6 Plus (the larger of the two), have been posting personal stories about how they discovered the troubling defect. One user noticed the distortion after the device was in their pocket for an estimated 18 hours.

"As I lay it on the coffee table and sat down on the couch to relax from the drive (yes, sitting again ), I saw the reflection of the window in the iPhone's slightly distorted," one user wrote.
Other users posted photos of their bent phones, which seem to be limited to the 5.5 iteration of the new device. Like all things Apple-related, the story quickly caught fire, and acquired the hashtag #Bendgate, as people lit up social media with their own personal horror stories.
The irony here is that one of the major selling points of the new phone is its supposed indestructibility. Just today, a new video surfaced online showing the resilience of the new device — another reason these new claims should be taken with a grain of salt.
As with the release of every new Apple product, reports of defects usually do tend to surface, and until Apple makes an official statement, this may just be a case of a few trolls wanting to see one of the world's largest companies with pie in its face.
We'll keep you posted as the story develops, but for now, check out a photo of the supposed bendy iPhone 6 plus, below. (Business Insider)
